GTA V outsolds almost every other game in January

Rockstar games are now reaping rewards of keeping the GTA online fresh with their thinking just like in the heist mission and holiday themed events for the past few years. Because of all these attempts, their latest venture Grand Theft Auto 5 was the number two console game last month even though the console hardware sales were down, this is a very bizarre feat considering that it was launched two and half years ago, in September 2013, to be exact. The evergreen gateway for the online community of the GTA has been very instrumental in boosting the sales of the game. GTA 5 which is now available in Play Station 3, XBOX 360 and is expected to come to PC and then to Play Station 4 and XBOX One. Regardless of the fact that how crazy this is that it wasn’t lost on the NPD Group’s David Riley. He also said that this is the third consecutive January when the Grand Theft Auto V was on the Top 5 titles. The game has now moved a lot up in the rankings as it has moved from fifth place from January 2014 to the third position in January 2015. It has also moved to the second best selling game in January 2016.
In January month alone, Rockstart is a crime simulator which also outsold the last fall’s heavyfall Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Seige. The game also handily beat out Lego Marvel Avenger which was released last month and sits at the bottom of the sales charts.
The only game which could topple GTA V is Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3. Activision the producers of the Call of Duty, reported that the game was the top selling console title in 2015 and considering the demand of the game, even the consistently performing game like GTA will find it hard to compete with it. Last year, Minecraft did something similar in last August, taking over the fourth place GTA 5 but still, it is very rare.
The NPD Group which is famously doesn’t record the digital sales data from the stores like Steam and PlayStation Store, but Rockstar will take Two interactive recently released that to data., GTA V has a sales record of over 60 million copies worldwide across all the gaming platforms.
The average is going to be somewhat a little off if we consider the game sold more than 11 million copies in the first 24 hours, but it has likely Rockstar has moved more than two million copies per month, every month since it was released. Now only if we could get some news on the single player extension.
